The West Craves Materialism The East Sticks To Religion "
The worst advertisements for Islam are the countries with their selective Islam, especially where religion is used to deprive people of their rights." By Imran Khan, Chairman Tehrik-Insaf, Pakistan
My generation grew up at a time when colonial hang up was at its peak. Our older generation had been enslaved and had a huge inferiority complex of the British. The school I went to was similar to all elite schools in Pakistan. Despite gaining independence, they were, and still are, producing replicas of public schoolboys rather than Pakistanis. I read Shakespeare, which was fine, but no Allama Iqbal — the national poet of Pakistan. The class on Islamic studies was not taken seriously, and when I left school I was considered among the elite of the country because I could speak English and wore Western clothes.
Bani Israel In The Book of God Today, we have a very special opportunity in this city, by the Grace of Allah, to get to know those faithful and sincere Jews, and interact with them. By Dr. M. Shokr
One of the arguments that are deliberately promoted to solicit public sympathy with the state of Israel is that the Qur’an declares that God has “written” the land of Palestine for Bani Israel. This argument has been circulated in the Muslim communities and even supported by a few Muslim “experts”. It is important to shed some light on the Qur’anic narration related to this claim and share a few ideas about the stand of the Qur’an with regard to Bani Israel (Children of Yakoob) and the current situation in Palestine. At the core of this narration are verses from Surah Al-Ma’eda (5:20-21).
Editorial-Make our Masjids more vibrant!
Since the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him), Masjids have been the centres of activities throughout the Muslim Ummah. In our opinion Masjids can again play a big role in shaping the character of youth by becoming a more inviting place for them. In order to do that, Masjids will have to move on from being a place strictly for prayers, to a community centre for adults and a drop-in centre for the youth and teenagers.
Our youth is our future. Recently the Muslim community has consciously recognised that the youth will become the eventual flag-bearers, as the older generation will pass away, or be too old to help out more actively. Considering that they are the ones who will eventually take charge of our affairs in Canada in particular, and in the world in general, we have to focus on activities that will raise a group of young Muslims
who are well versed in the language and dynamics of the contemporary society, well educated in the current sciences and technology, and have a sound knowledge of Islam
Poem
I’ve Felt.........
I’ve felt love in my life,
I went through sad times and,
I went through good times,
since, I felt love in my life.
I’ve never seen it anywhere,
even though I’ve felt it in air,
It doesn’t matter if I’ve done wrong or right,
but I’ve felt love in my life.
Everytime I think about my love,
I wonder why it tickles in my heart,
Why it brings a smile on my face
My true love is like a phrase in my mind.......
Because I’ve felt love in my life.
Unto Him is the return of all of you; it is a promise of Allah in truth. Lo! He produceth creation, then reproduceth it, that He may reward those who believe and do good works with equity; while, as for those who disbelieve, theirs will be a boiling drink and painful doom because they disbelieved. (10:4)
Narrated Abdullah ibn Umar: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: Behold! the Dispensers of Justice will be seated on the pulpits of light beside God, on the right side of the Merciful, Exalted and Glorious. Either side of the Being is the right side both being equally meritorious. (The Dispensers of Justice are) those who do justice in their rules, in matters
relating to their families and in all that they undertake to do. (Muslim:844)

Increase your Iman-o-meter this month
by believing that the knowledge of the unseen belongs to Allah alone. This means that one should stay away from horoscopes, fortune cookies, soothsayers, whatever claims to predict the future. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “The prayer of one who goes to a soothsayer, asks him something and believes in what he says, will not be accepted for
forty days.” (Reported Muslim)

Prophet Yusuf (Alaih Assalam)
We continue the story of prophet Yusuf (PBUH) that we started last month. ProphetYakub (PBUH) had 12 children who were all boys. One of his son was named Yusuf. Yusuf was very handsome and his father loved him dearly. Yusuf’s brothers knew Yusuf was the apple of their
father’s eye. Jealousy blinds the heart. It blinded them so much that they decided to get rid of Yusuf. So one day they took him out with them to play and threw him down a well. They then tried to cover up what they had done by killing an animal and staining Yusuf’s shirt with the blood of this animal. They then ran to their father Yakub crying and lied telling him that a wolf had eaten Yusuf. Yakub knew that this wasn’t true and became very sad and knew that he could only be patient and that Allah (SWT) alone would help bring out the truth.
